Why is Drinking Iced Cold Water Bad for the Body

The average body temperature is 98.6 degrees.

The body does it's best when it remains at a constant temperature.
It does not like to go from one extreme temperature to another to quickly.  The body needs time to adjust to temperature changes so the electrical activity of the brain (which controls the electrical activity of the heart) can continue to function efficiently.

The brain may be the important organs in the body, and it needs to be working properly all the time.  The brain controls many of the body's functions.
It is fairly sensitive to temperature and sudden temperature changes.

Have you ever had "Brain Freeze"?
Brain freeze occurs when something extremely cold touches the upper-palate (roof of the mouth).
The sensation of brain freeze appears to be caused by a dramatic and sudden increase in blood flow through the brain's anterior cerebral artery.  As soon as the artery constricted, the brain-freeze pain sensation wore off.

Migraine sufferers are more likely to suffer brain freeze after drinking or eating very cold foods/drinks, compared to people who never have migraines.
It is thought that some of what occurs during brain freeze may be similar
to what causes migraines, and possibly other kinds of headaches,
including those caused by traumatic brain injuries.

In the case of headaches, if dilated arteries cause a sudden rush of blood to the brain, which raises pressure and causes pain, a drug that constricts the blood vessel should reduce pressure and eliminate the pain.  Constricting the blood vessels that supply the brain could help prevent pressure building up dangerously high.

Pressure built up in the brain can cause Strokes
and other Medical Emergencies.

Drinking ice water with a meal can also harm your digestion.

Not being able to properly digest your food can be harmful in many different ways.  Your body must turn the food you consume into energy in order for
your organs to function properly and give you the energy needed to perform
daily tasks.  Also, your body retrieves essential vitamins and minerals from
the food you eat. If your body cannot work properly to retrieve these elements,
it will suffer. Your immune system, which works to fight off colds and other illnesses, can also suffer from poor digestion because it does not have
the energy it needs to function correctly.

Iced water can be harmful because it damages your body's ability to properly digest food and drink.  Drinking cold beverages with a meal slows down your body's proper digestive actions.  Think of it as almost freezing your insides temporarily so that they cannot do what they need to do at that moment.
Instead food goes improperly digested, and your body is unable to retrieve
the nutrients and energy that it needs.  By decreasing the activity of your digestive system, ice cold beverages rob you of the nutrition of the food you ate.

Also, when you drink cold beverages, your body has to use energy in order to warm up that liquid inside your body.  This is also robbing your body of the energy it needs to properly process the food you have eaten.  Instead of working to get all the nutrition of the food, your digestive system is instead working on regulating the temperature of the cold drink.
